PhD seeking guidance on rural homelessness research

Hello,
I'm currently a PhD student in sociology at York University in the beginning phase of research on rural homelessneas in Grey Bruce (Bruce and Grey Counties)Ontario. To the best of my knowledge, there is little pre-existing research on homelessness in this area.
I would like to construct a profile of the characteristics of the homelessness population in this area. I'm unfortunately working alone, so my main question is: what is the most I can accomplish on my own in terms of constructing such a profile, and what would be the best way to go about doing it? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!
Warm regards,
Hart Walker

Have you/your organization gotten in touch with Grey County? Beginning in 2018, all Ontario service managers are mandated to complete an enumeration of people experiencing homelessness in their communities and collect demographic information every two years, working in partnership with community organizations. If not, reaching out would be a good first step - you may be help them rather than working on your own.
Thank you Gwen! That's a great suggestion! The organization I'm working with receives their base funding from Grey County, so I will definitely look into that.
Hi Hart you might be interested in connecting with the Alberta Rural Development Network. They have recently (June 2017) published a "Rural Homelessness Estimation Project" Step-by Step Guide to Estimate Rural Homelessness. their web site is www.ardn.ca and Dee Ann Benard is the ED. I have her phone number as 780-915-1751
Hope this helps. Regards Norma
