New resource for service providers working with youth
Today, the Canadian Observatory on Homelessness Press in collaboration with the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health are proud to share ‘Mental Health & Addiction Interventions for Youth Experiencing Homelessness: Practical Strategies for Front-line Providers.’
The e-book is available for free download at: http://homelesshub.ca/mentalhealthbook
A paperback copy can be purchased from Eva’s Print Shop.
Studies show that young people experiencing homelessness face many forms of extreme adversity including high rates of mental health and addiction challenges. Rates of psychiatric symptoms and general distress among youth experiencing homelessness are at a level that is commonly seen among youth in outpatient and inpatient psychiatric care settings.
This book was developed to address a key gap in the field by providing timely and relevant guidance to service providers on how to intervene more effectively with youth who have experienced homelessness.
We hope you find this book useful!
